'50-50' Ohtani, Home Run King Judge, Becomes MVP of 'All Match' in the Two Leagues

Shohei Ohtani (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Aaron Judge (New York Yankees), the home run king representing the Major League Baseball (MLB), were unanimously selected as the MVP of the two leagues.

Japanese Major League superstar Ohtani was selected as NL MVP by sweeping 30 first-place votes as a result of the American Baseball Journalists Association (BBWAA) vote announced on the 22nd (Korea Standard Time).먹튀검증

Francisco Lindor (New York Mets) came in second with 23 votes in second place and seven votes in third place, while Ketel Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks) came in third.

Ohtani, who signed a 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers last winter for an all-time high of $700 million, led his team to the World Series title this season with a batting average of 0.310, 54 homers, 59 steals, 130 RBIs, 134 runs, and 1.036 on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS).

In particular, Ohtani made a new history in the Major League by achieving "50 home runs and 50 steals" for the first time.

Amid such performances, Ohtani was unanimously named MVP in the first year of his transfer to the National League.

It is the third time Otani has been named MVP after he was named MVP in the American League in 2021 and 2023 when he was a member of the Los Angeles Angels. He was named MVP all three times by unanimous decision.

Ohtani is the 12th MVP in MLB history after Barry Bonds (No. 7), Jimmy Fox, Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial, Roy Campanella, Yogi Vera, Mickey Mantle, Mike Schmidt, Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout (No. 3).

Ohtani also became the second player to be named MVP in both leagues after Frank Robinson.

In addition, Ohtani also made a case in which a designated hitter was selected as MVP for the first time in the Major League.

Judge was named MVP as expected in the AL. Judge also received 30 votes as he won the first place in the press corps vote, making him the MVP.

Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals received 30 votes in second place alone, while Judge's teammate Juan Soto came in third.

Judge, who recorded a batting average of 0.322 this season, ranked first overall in both leagues with 58 home runs, 144 RBIs, 133 walks, and OPS (on-base plus slugging percentage) of 1.159.

Judge, who led the Yankees to the World Series, held his second career MVP trophy after 2022.

Judge, who hit 62 home runs in 2022, received 28 first-place votes in MVP voting. Ohtani received two first-place votes without Judge at the time.
